Don’t waste your time… it’s not a matter of one issue

Published by rngruber at 11:36 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I have most recently been struck down, basically shunned, and told how aweful of a person I am because of my political beliefs. This comes from a thoroughly conservative family that honestly base their opinions and their choices on who should run our country by who supports LIFE. Well, this is MY OPINION, not to make you think you are wrong, or to tell you how horrible you are for your choices in life, MY OPINION, which if anyone wanted to chit chat about it, I’d be great!

I DO NOT, nor will I ever believe that taking a person’s life, not matter at what age (fetus to 120 yrs old), aside from the death penalty, is okay. I myself do not support the act of aborting a fetus, or the act of genocide, the act of killing in war, or euthenasia. That being said, I would never (myself) take the life of another. I do believe that a person has the right to choose with what they do with their bodies, you cannot take away a woman’s right to choose as much as you can take away her right to vote, to be president, to be a mother, etc.

It is true that Obama supports the right to choose. Do not say that he supports killing people, killing babies, that is completely untrue, completely uncalled for, and complete naivety. The fact that people say he supports killing, is equal to the fact that McCain also supports killing by wanting to keep our troops in Iraq, by saying that we will be in war for more than 100 years (yes he said that), a war that was not our initial goal. I understand that Obama has passed laws, has neglected to pass laws etc., but look past the point everyone is wanting to make, “he supports killing people.” That is just neglecting the fact that you have not done your research in this election, or in any politician for that matter. Did you know that McCain supports abortion to those who have been raped? Yet, when a person who wants to go in to get an abortion, they don’t have to supply proof or receive a rape kit to prove they have been raped? In somes views (their only concern) in this election, you better not vote for McCain either…. who was running for the Liberterian or Green party again? DO YOUR RESEARCH! I thought every life was precious…. hmmmmm.

What happened in office the last 8 years? For everyone who voted for their president who “Chooses Life,” not a thing was done about abortion. Don’t even tell me there were more important issues, such as the war that never should have happened (I’ll share more on another post…), or the downward spiraling economy….. OH WAIT! That is now. Our economy is now, the people dying every day in our country because they can’t afford to live, don’t have a place to live, don’t have jobs or food to put on their families table, that is NOW. I have news, Roe v. Wade will never be overturned, you are not going to get the people in Congress as well as the president for anything like that to ever happen. So how about starting to look at the other issues that are happening in this country?

You know what gets me even more? Is “these” people, the ones who have so much compassion for the unborn child (remember I don’t support abortion), vote along the same lines who put money into the corporations, into the “rich hands,” these compassionate people don’t seem too bothered by the middle and lower class who are suffering, who are the ones that can’t afford to raise children and feel there is no other choice but abortion, the ones who support sending troops into war zones, look at the figures of how many people have died in Iraq this year alone, and how many abortions have taken place in our country…. they are scary! I do not understand how “these” people who care so much about saving babies lives, care so little for other precious lives in our country.

So…. what I’m trying to say amidst my ramblings, is that if you are a “one issue” voter, save your time, your hand, your precious gas money (oh wait, you don’t care that we just continue to pay rediculous amounts for gas when the corporations are bringing in more money than ever), don’t vote. It’s not worth your time, it’s not worth another 4 years of the same because nothing about Abortion will change in another 4 years, it didn’t in the last 8.

I agree; no one can be a one-issue voter. I also agree that it would be very difficult to get Roe v. Wade overturned in the near future given current events. However, in regards to the statement that “not a thing was done about abortion,” check out

+1. I’d like to think I’d never use abortion, but come on, in an unwanted pregnancy a mother-to-be has three options, all with negative consequences… Why, especially with birth control not being mandatory, would you take away one of those options??? makes no sense to me whatsoever.

The pro-life view would be more justifiable to me too if the republicans would give more aid to single mothers or low-income families… but they don’t so it’s just hypocritical. Kind of like being pro-life and pro-war… a christian who thinks jesus would approve of bombing your enemies… for oil.

Ramble on, I like what I hear.

Thanks for the correction! I guess what I meant by “doing anything for abortion,” was meant at eliminating/overturning Roe v. Wade. But you are correct that he did ban late term abortion! Thanks! :-)
